Frequently Asked Questions

ā–¾ What is the EverOak philosophy behind stud service?

At EverOak, stud service is not a transaction — it is stewardship.

Each breeding decision is made with long-term vision and responsibility. Our priority is protecting structure, temperament, health, and the integrity of the AKC Breed Standard. Legacy is never accidental; it is built intentionally, generation after generation.

Stud approval is extended only to breeders who share these preservation values.

ā–¾ What health testing is required for the bitch?

To safeguard the future of the breed, the following are required:

  • Final OFA (or PennHIP) hips and elbows
  • Current ACVO eye clearance
  • Cardiac echocardiogram by a board-certified cardiologist
  • Breed-appropriate DNA screening (PRA, HNPK, EIC, etc.)
  • Dilute (dd) status for Labradors
  • Negative Brucellosis test each cycle
  • Proper progesterone timing (LH required for frozen semen)

All documentation must be reviewed and approved by EverOak prior to breeding.

ā–¾ Are EverOak Labradors dilute-free?

Yes. EverOak Labradors are 100% dilute-free.

We do not participate in or support dilute-producing programs (silver, charcoal, champagne), as preservation of correct breed type and genetic integrity is foundational to our program.

ā–¾ Which stud dogs are available?

EverOak proudly offers:

Labradors:

  • GCH Major Pnt’d CH Timber’s Khaki Twill at EverOak Stonebay
  • GCH CH EverOak’s Mini Cooper
  • GCH French Kiss Black and Chocolate at EverOak, BCAT (Frozen Only)
  • GCH CH Epoch Banner’s Chocolate Midnight Malt (Frozen Only)

Sussex Spaniel:

  • CH Teracrofts Hey Jealousy At EverOak Stonebay

Each stud is AKC-proven and comprehensively health tested.

ā–¾ What is the stud fee?

Total Stud Fee: $2,500

Option 1 – Service Fee Structure

$500 non-refundable service fee prior to shipment or live cover

$2,000 due within seven (7) days of whelping two live, viable puppies

Option 2 – Paid in Full

$2,500 prior to shipment

Includes one repeat breeding within one (1) year if no litter results

A ā€œsuccessful litterā€ is defined as two live puppies surviving seven (7) days.
No pregnancy guarantee is expressed or implied.

All collection, shipping, reproductive, and veterinary expenses are the responsibility of the bitch owner.

ā–¾ Is live cover available?

Live cover may be available for local bitches and is coordinated through EverOak’s reproductive veterinarian. Approval is at EverOak’s discretion.

Fresh chilled and frozen semen are available where noted.

ā–¾ What are EverOak’s placement expectations?

  • To preserve breed integrity:
  • No puppies may be sold to brokers or third-party resellers
  • No Labrador puppies may enter dilute-producing programs
  • Puppies with AKC disqualifying faults must be placed on Limited Registration
  • Stud owner must be notified prior to any Full Registration placement
  • Homes must reflect responsible, preservation-minded standards

ā–¾ What happens in the event of contract breach?

  • This agreement is entered into in good faith.
  • Material breach — including falsified health testing, dual-sired litters, unethical placements, misuse of the EverOak name, dilute breeding (where applicable), or failure to fulfill financial terms — may result in liquidated damages of $5,000 per occurrence, in addition to unpaid fees.
  • EverOak reserves the right to seek equitable relief to protect its breeding program and name.

ā–¾ What law governs EverOak stud agreements?

  • All stud agreements are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.
  • Venue remains exclusively in Alexander County, North Carolina.
