Liquid Medications – Proper Measurement
In keeping with NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs) recommendations, mL (milliliters) should be the standard unit of measurement used on prescription labels for oral liquid medications. Using mL helps reduce dosing errors and promotes accuracy.
Example:
If the medication label reads 5 mg/mL and your dog’s prescribed dose is 4 mg, you would administer 0.8 mL.
Always double-check dosage calculations and confirm instructions with your veterinarian before administering any medication. Accuracy matters.
